DME could possibly bring a new technical innovation
to the energy field, as fuel for motor vehicles and for power generation.
DME can be produced from the synthesis of gases (CO & H2) produced by coal or biomass gasification as well as by natural gas reforming. Theerefore, DME is remarkable as a clean utilization method for coal in regards to global environmental protection.
DME is strongly expected to be a method of handling natural gas as a liquid, and also as a fuel in the field of new energy as well as chemicals.
DME is a clean fuel, which is pure, hydrogen rich, with low CO2 emissions
and is suitable for the environmentally friendly energy utilization
in the 21st Century. Moreover, DME is easy to handle as liquid at
nomal ambient temperature, and it can be used as an alternative fuel
to LPG, a clean and economic fuel for the power generation, diesel
engines and fuel cells. DME could possibly bring a new energy revolution
for exhaust gas problems, drastically reducing both particulates and
nitrogen oxides (NOx).
Since its establishment in September 2000, the Japan DME forum (JDF)
has made an effort toward finding solutions to general problems in
the production, transportation, storage and utilization of DME. JDF organizes Asian DME Conference, and the 4th Conference was held in Kitakyushu City on November 12-14, 2007.
We
will make further efforts in regards to these activities resulting the
creation of a new industrial field.
